The president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin has stated that there should be no filming by TAMPAN members from March 27 to April 17.
This is to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Latin made this known through a video shared on social media via his Instagram page. He said that their job as movie makers makes it almost impossible for them to practice social distancing because there is a lot of contact on set.
Nevertheless,he added that anyone who disobeys the directive would be kicked out of TAMPAN.

Funke Akindele’s Case: A Misplacement Of Priority

Nigeria’s popular theater actor and comedian was on thhe heels of the weekend arrested by the government for cases bothering on disobedience to government regulations as regarding the corona virus disease. This isn’t a solo affair as she was arrested alongside her husband.

Their offence bothered on hosting a party for persons more than twenty in number. However, this according to legal experts cannot be said to be a criminal offence. According to them, an act can be pronounced as a crime if it is prescribed in a law. This translates to the fact that observing social distancing is a guideline and cannot be said to operate within the purview of the law. Since the legislative house didn’t hold a debate on it, neither was it signed into law by the chief executive officer of the state in question.

Nigeria has always been known to focus her attention on seemingly irrelevant and baseless issues. There are several instances of the government displaying actions of misplaced priorities. The most recent is the purchase of world class utility vehicles by the nation’s house of representative. This is amidst the current war and fight against corona virus (COVID 19).

Afterall, the actor apologised publicly and submitted that the party was an internal affair with members of her crew who were on self-quarantine while working on an upcoming film.

It is in the best interest of the government to shift her focus on more issues such as providing for the needing rather than fighting for an issue which is more of a waste of resources. I do hope there is a review of the judgement passed in the interest of the government and the defendants.

Instagram comedian, Sydney Talker has publicly shared his Coronavirus test result hours after a Twitter campaign with #SydneyWeyYourResult gained momentum.

Recall that the Instagram comedian had called out the Nigeria Center for Disease (NCDC) who he accused of refusing to test him after he showed mild symptoms of the disease.

Sydney Talker who tested negative for the virus, was accused of hiding his test result by people who believe he lied about the symptoms he claimed he had. He was also accused of making the NCDC waste its test kit which is barely up to 100,000, hence the #SydneyWeyYourResult.

A UK-based Doctor who called out the comedian, tweeted;

Following the outrage the UK-based Doctor’s tweets ignited, Sydney publicly shared his test which confirmed that he tested negative for Coronavirus.

He however dispelled claims of seeking public attention with his allegation against the NCDC. The comedian wrote;

My Test Results just got in from Lagos State Ministry of Health and thankfully it is NEGATIVE.

To those who felt this was a PRANK or CLOUT CHASING, I have just one question ” Why would I chase clout at the expense of my life ? “

To everyone who prayed for me in my weakest moment and for quick recovery, I pray that on the day you are in distress may you also find help and recieve prayers IJN Amen

I love you all & I promise I will be back and better soonest
