Lagos Not On Lockdown-Commissioner

The Lagos State Government said the had said the state is not on lockdown.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy , Gbenga Omotoso said, Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu had only added stringent measures to curb the spread of coronavirus and implored private establishments to introduce measures that would support the government ’ s activities.
Gbenja Omotoso stated , “ The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to news reports that Lagos is on lockdown following Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu ’ s update on the steps taken to curtail the spread of coronavirus .
“ The impression created by such reports is erroneous ; Mr Governor , who is the incident commander , only urged private sector establishments to introduce measures that will support the government ’ s efforts at curtailing the spread of COVID- 19 .
“ Governor Sanwo – Olu suggested that banks should enhance their online banking services to enable their customers have transactions without visiting banking halls and all markets that are not selling food , pharmaceutical products , water , medical equipment and other essential materials are to close down .
“ Workers providing essential services – fire service , emergency , health , water , telecommunication, security , media and others – are exempted from this directive and the initiatives being introduced by the government are to prevent any situation where more than 25 persons will gather in the same place at any time . ”

NECO: SSCE, Basic Education Exams ,Not Postponed

National Examinations Council has revealed it has not suspended the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination and Basic Education Certificate Examination due to COVID-19 epidemic.
NECO, stated it’s observing the pandemic situation in the country and would postpone the exams if it’s necessity arise.
Head of Information for the council, Mr Azeez Sani , said , Wednesday,“ We state categorically that apart from the 2020 National Common Entrance that was postponed indefinitely due to the outbreak of Covid – 19 , the council has not review any of its remaining examination timetables for BECE and SSCE , neither is it contemplating such for now.
“ The general public is urged to disregard such fake news, as the council is monitoring the prevailing situation in the country and will make an official pronouncement on the examinations if the need arises. ”
The SSCE and BECE regularly take place around May and June,every year.

COVID-19:Oyo State Governor ,Seyi Makinde now negative

Oyo State Governor , Seyi Makinde, has now tested negative for COVID-19.
Governor Makinde, who had tested positive for the virus on March 30 , made this known through his Twitter handle that he now tests negative for the virus, Sunday evening.
He tweeted:
I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period . I am so thankful . This evening , I received my second negative test result for COVID- 19 . I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge , who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID- 19 Task Force . pic . twitter . com /p0 Tn1 iH 0 H 1

COVID-19: Lagos State Governor,Family,and Aides Tests Negative

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo- Olu , wife , and all aides, have tested negative for COVID-19.


This was made known, Friday morning by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health , Prof . Akin Abayomi.


Prof. Akin Abayomi stated , “ I am happy to announce that COVID19 – 19 Lagos Incident Commander , Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu , the First Lady of Lagos and their immediate family members , as well as aides , have all tested negative for COVID – 19 .


“ We thank Lagos residents for their concern and support. We urge all to maintain social distancing . Together we can defeat COVID- 19 ! Please stay safe .
