Observe Sallah Prayers At Home, Sultan Of Sokoto Tells Muslims Again

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Jama ’ atu Nasril Islam , Alhaji Sa ’ ad Abubakar , has asked Nigerian Muslims to observe the congregational prayers for this year ’ s Eid – el – Fitri in their homes .

This year’ s Eid- el – Fitri to mark the end of the Ramadan amid coronavirus outbreak is slated for Saturday or Sunday and the Sultan had urged Muslims to look out for the sighting of the moon .

Abubakar , who is the leader of Nigerian Muslims , also suspended all prayers, gatherings in the outskirts of towns and cities amid the COVID- 19 pandemic .

The Sultan , who spoke through the JNI Secretary – General , Dr Khalid Abubakar Aliyu , in a statement in Kaduna , however , noted that in states where government had reached decision to mark the Eid – el – Fitri , Muslims should observe social distancing , wear face masks and use hand sanitisers provided for worshippers to check the spread of the COVID- 19 .

The Sultan also warned Muslim leaders against unguarded utterances for the overall interests of the Nigerian Muslim community.

The statement read in part , “The Jama ’ atu Nasril Islam under the leadership of His Eminence , Alhaji ( Dr ) Muhammad Sa ’ ad Abubakar , CFR, mni, Sultan of Sokoto , in a mandate to the JNI Fatwa Committee , under the leadership of Sheikh Sheriff Ibrahim Saleh Alhusainy, CON , to come up with Fatwa regarding the year 2020 ‘ Eid – el – Fitr prayer , and the committee after due consultations , as well as considerations of the current state – COVID- 19 pandemic and the serious threat it poses to life , reached the following decisions :

“‘Eid – el – Fitr congregation in the outskirts of towns and cities should be temporarily suspended .

“ That the said ‘ Eid- el – Fitr Prayer be observed at home with family members or alone at home .

“ However , in states where governments have reached concrete decisions to observe the Eid – el – Fitr prayer , based on their medical experts ’ advice , strictest measures of distancing , face masks and sanitisers be taken to protect worshipers . In this case , neighbourhood mosques can be utilised if it becomes necessary .

“ Ulama should fear Allah , the Most High and be mature enough in guarding their utterances and actions for the overall interest of the Deen and the Ummah . ”

The JNI statement added , “Nigerian Muslims are therefore called upon to reflect their minds to the good virtues of the month of Ramadan and keep to its teachings all through their respective lives , as the Lord of Ramadan is still and shall remain the Lord of other months, above all keeps the records of our actions and inactions. More so , Muslims are reminded to keep to the ordinances of the glorious Qur ’ an , for the prestige of the Muslim Ummah .

“ JNI wishes all Muslim faithful an accepted Ramadan and successful ‘ Eid- el – Fitr . ”

A 21-year-old man, Chisom Eze, has allegedly stabbed his younger brother, Henry, 19, to death for allegedly drinking his soft drink without permission.

WuzupNigeria gathered that the incident happened at their place of residence on Johnson Street, Alaba area of Lagos State.

Chisom was said to have left the drink in the house and stepped out to attend to an issue, but when he returned, he discovered that Henry had taken advantage of his absence to consume the drink.

Angered by his brother’s action, Chisom was said to have grabbed a knife and stabbed Henry in the neck.

However, their sister, who allegedly witnessed the incident, raised the alarm and neighbours apprehended Chisom.

Efforts to rescue Henry were said to have proved abortive as he died of the injuries he sustained during the attack.

Footage of the incident, which was posted on Instablog9ja, showed the victim’s remains being taken out by wailing neighbours and sympathisers.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said,

“Chisom stabbed his younger brother, Henry, to death because of a bottle of soft drink. He is currently in our custody. Investigation is ongoing.”

Polls: Police Redeploy Commissioners Of Ondo And Edo States

Mohammed Adamu, the inspector-general of police (IGP), has redeployed the police commissioners in Edo and Ondo months to the governorship elections in the two states.

While Edo election would hold in September, that of Ondo has been scheduled for the following month.

In a statement on Thursday, Frank Mba, police spokesman, said the duo were redeployed alongside nine other commissioners across the country.

Undie Adie, who was in charge of Ondo command, was posted to Osun and replaced by Bolaji Amidu.

Lawal Jimeta formerly of Edo command is now the commissioner in Bauchi, while Johnson Kokumo has taken over from him.

Also redeployed were Philip Maku who is now in charge of Ebonyi command and Ahmed Shehu who has been moved to Gombe.

Joe Enwonwu was also redeployed to Oyo command while Evelyn Peterside is to head the Eastern Port.

Okon Ene and Bello Maikwashi are now in charge of explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) and airport command respectively while Olukolu Shina is head of the anti-fraud unit.

Mba said the IGP charged the posted officers to ensure they consolidate and advance the gains of their predecessors “particularly in the implementation of community-policing, crime prevention, public security, public safety and general crime fighting”.

Dubai-based Nigerian boy, Ray Hushpuppi has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for seeking approval for a fresh loan of $5.513 billion, and also the House of Representatives member that will approve the loan.

In a letter read by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the plenary on Thursday, the president said the loan was to finance the 2020 budget deficit, financing of critical projects, and supporting some states of the federation.

Hushpuppi has now reacted blasting those involved. He wrote;

This time I’m not even going to blame or focus my strength or time on dumb Buhari, this time it’s to all the Reps and senators who will approve this loan again after a recent one was just approved and we don’t know where it went. Any of you reps and senators that will vote for this loan to be approved should know it will not be well with you and your generations, as you all plan to help the future nigerian kids in poverty before even being born, your own children will suffer before your eyes. Bastard people wey e no go better for all of una together
