Condemnations have continued to trail the demolition action of the Rivers State Governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike. The Governor had during the weekend ordered the demolition of two hotels.
The hotels Prodest Hotel and Edemte Hotel were reported to have been demolished following a disobedience to the COVID-19 order of the state government. The demolition exercise was supervised personally by the Governor.
A civil society organization, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) condemned the action and threatened to take a legal action on the Governor. According to SERAP, Wike was using the corona virus pandemic to perpetuate human rights violations.
Similarly, an ace legal luminary, Femi Falana (SAN) has condemned the action of the governor too. He described Wike as a colossal embarrassment to the body of benchers in the nation.
